Wedding Guests Says Bride Scolded Her for Wearing Gold Dress to Ceremony: ‘You’re Not the First Prize'

In aReddit thread,a woman explained that she had recently attended her close friend’s wedding where she wore a gold dress to the “warm tone garden party” themed nuptials.

The anonymous woman noted that she had been best friends with the groom since high school, and thought she “nailed” her outfit. Until the bride took her aside during the reception.

The user went on to say that the bride told her: “I cannot believe you would wear gold to my wedding, you’re not the first prize you’re just f**king trashy.”

She woman explained that the groom had been dating the bride for three years before they married and that she “has always disliked me.”

To avoid any further attention and drama, the woman complied with the bride’s request and left the celebration.

In the comment section, users weighed in on the sticky situation.

“I don’t think it would have mattered what colour your dress was. The (now) wife hates you and was gonna find something to yell at you for whatever you wore,” one commenter said.

“I think the problem is she’s jealous you could pull off that dress,” someone else wrote.

In an update to the post, the woman added that the groom eventually learned why she left the wedding from his mother.

Some users even encouraged the guest to cut ties with the groom following the drama.

Another user said she thought that if the wedding guest stepped back, the bride “will pick on someone else” in the groom’s life, exposing the real issue.

“It comes down to trust ultimately. There’ll be a new target the second she realises you’re gone,” that person wrote.
