Tyson Foods has recalled nearly 30,000 pounds of a dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets product after consumers reported finding small metal pieces within the food.
On Saturday, the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Serviceannouncedthat Tyson is recalling 29,819 lbs. of its 29-oz. bags of Fully Cooked Fun Nuggets Breaded Shaped Chicken Patties.
According to a release from the department, the specific contaminated Fun Nuggets were produced on Sept. 5 and shipped to distributors in Alabama, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.
“A limited number of consumers have reported they found small, pliable metal pieces in the product, and out of an abundance of caution, the company is recalling this product,” Tyson shared in arelease. “Consumers who have purchased the affected item should cut the UPC and date code from the packaging, discard the product and call or text 1-855-382-3101.”

The FSIS reported a “minor oral injury associated with consumption of this product,” and noted that “anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.”
“FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers,” the release noted. “Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”
A spokesperson for Tyson did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for additional comment on Sunday.

The latest recall comes more than four years after an estimated 36,420 lbs. of Tyson’s White Meat Panko Chicken Nuggets were recalled. Those specific nuggets may have been contaminated with “foreign materials," the Department of Agriculture said at the time.
In January 2019, the nuggets — which came in a 5-lb. plastic package and were packaged on Nov. 26, 2018, and sold nationwide — were flagged after customers reportedly found “foreign materials” in the food, including rubber.
Two months later, Tyson recalled 69,093 lbs. offrozen, ready-to-eat chicken, and in 2021, the company issued a recall for about8.5 million lbs.of frozen and cooked chicken products.
