The actor, 43, may be stepping into Colt Seavers’ fabled shoes in the upcoming film (an adaptation of theLee Majors-led 1980s series of the same name), but he won’t be channeling his vocals.

“I’m not, but it’s in the film and a pretty great artist sings it,” the actor tells PEOPLE, seemingly referring toBlake Shelton, who will be offering a contemporary rendition of the track for the film.
“I’m excited for people to hear it,” Gosling adds of the cover.
This revelation comes on the heels of a very musical year for Gosling, who has previously proved his vocal chops with his laudedLa La Landrole and spooky rock duoDead Man’s Bones— not to mention theviral dance recitalroutine he performed at age 12.
In 2023, Gosling won the world over with his epicBarbiepower ballad,“I’m Just Ken,”which not onlycracked theBillboardHot 100but alsoreceived a Grammy nodfor best song written for visual media.

And while Gosling will not be channeling Majors musically in his upcoming action flick, which also starsEmily Blunt, he says he’smaintained a friendship with the veteran actor since meeting him on set.
“[Majors] came out to Australia and I had an opportunity to talk to him and spend the day with him,” Gosling tells PEOPLE, adding that the experience “was pretty great.”
TheBarbiestar also says that he and Majors, who played Seavers for five years on the original series, are “text buddies” and still keep in touch — which he finds “pretty cool.”
“He’s so funny and he’s very lovely and gracious,” Gosling adds.
