The strange incident marks the first human case of rabies in the state since 1954. Police in Montpelier, Ind., said in a press release that Brandi Bare, 46, was behind the wheel of a vehicle that left the roadway and barrelled through the back of 74-year-old Jerry “Jake” Michael’s home, then crashed through the front of the house before colliding with another car parked in the driveway....

It’s unclear if the suspects have retained attorneys. Also at the scene was a wounded 14-year-old who was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police have not identified the teen but said he’s expected to survive. By Nov. 6, authorities had identified and charged the two suspects, whose warrants were “sealed to allow law enforcement to apprehend them,” the statement reads....
