Moanais getting an animated sequel in addition to anupcoming live-action reimagining.
Disney Animation announced Wednesday thatMoana 2is coming to theaters this November, sharing a brief teaser.
“Moanaremains an incredibly popular franchise, and we can’t wait to give you more of Moana and Maui whenMoana 2comes to theaters this November," said Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger in a statement.
According to a synopsis,Moana 2"takes audiences on an expansive new voyage with Moana, Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced."

The hit 2016 film is also getting a live-action version coming soon, withDwayne Johnsonreprising his role of demigod Maui there.
Last April, Disneyannounced the live-action version ofMoana. The voice behindMoana,Mean Girlsstar Auli’i Cravalhois serving as an executive producer on that project as a new actress takes on the lead role.
In a statement at the time, Cravalho, 23, said of the character, “She has had such a profound impact on how we think of Disney princesses. Moana’s strength and perseverance are inspiring — to audiences around the world, to me and to everyone who helped bring her to life. I’m looking forward to sharing her story in a whole new way.”
Moana 2is in theaters Nov. 27.
