Julia Foxhoped to appear inMadonna’s highly-anticipated biopic, which is currently on pause.
TheUncut Gemsactress, 33, was a guest onWatch What Happens LiveSunday and answered a viewer’s question about hanging out with 65-year-old Queen of Pop.
Fox, who recently released the new memoirDown the Drain,said she and the “Like a Prayer” singer had dinner years ago at Carbone in New York City along with “some really fabulous gays.” After that, she continued, “we kind of kept in touch.”
“I went to her house and read for her and it was all very surreal,” Fox revealed about Madonna.
Last year,Entertainment Weeklyreported that Fox was in talks to play Mazar, whoreacted to the news with delight.
“I think she is gorgeous, smart and a very talented actress,” Mazar wrote about Fox in an Instagram caption accompanying vintage photos of her as well as Madonna.
“Funny enough, she reminds me more of Madonna when we were young then of myself,” continued Mazar. “I’d obviously be flattered. I wish the best to all the gals who audition. If you need dance moves or acting coaching give me a ring.”

The outlet reported that Madonna still intends to make the movie, but wanted to focus instead on herCelebrationworld tour, which kicked off Saturday in Londonto rave reviews.
In 2020, when the biopic was first confirmed, Madonna said in astatement, “I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer — a human being, trying to make her way in this world.”
“The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me,” she continued.
“It’s essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision,” she added.
