But the world we ’re produce is an Imperial reality . You ’re seeing the impingement of the Empire , of stormtroopers around the extragalactic nebula , abusing and oppressing the great unwashed . Thematically and politically , it drop dead to some dark places . But for the tone of the show we take our clew from the original movie , which had fun and escapade and swashbuckling with emotion and grounded human character . We conduct all our cues from the original films . Obviously there are slight tonic difference between New Hope , Empire and Jedi . But I recall the closest intended voice of the show is A New Hope . So there are place where we get into darker backstories , there are place we see how cruel and malefic the Empire can be , but for the most part it ’s a fun and reference - driven story . Again taking our cues from the original film , it ’s less maybe political than the prequels and more personal . It starts with a few character introductions that will precede the show . I wrote the first two episode , they ’re like a one - hour narration across two episodes where we introduce the primary characters in the show .
He also talked about how much they worked on the fresh baddie , “ the Inquisitor , ” and hint that he has some particular connection to the Jedi :
