Dish internet , it seems , has been rather partial to telemarketing . A little too partial . The TV supplier has been found shamed of violating the Federal Trade Commission ’s “ Do Not Call ” list a staggering 57 million time .
The finalrulingon a charge lodged way back in 2009 , the District Court for the Central District of Illinois also found Dish culpable for abandoning or do telemarketers to abandon intimately 50 million outbound telephone set calls . Those call are cases where a call was “ not transferred to a live sale broker within two seconds of the receiver ’s nail greeting”—in others , mis - direction leading to telephone junk e-mail .
The ruling includes some pretty frightful lesson of it affecting quotidian folks , including one Nox worker who could n’t deform her phone off during the day because of her hubby ’s medical condition :

“ After getting repeated call about Dish serving , she assume step to put an end to the aggravator . She listened to the whole recorded sale pitch , hoping a springy person would pick up so she could solicit them to stop calling . When she finally got somebody on the demarcation , she told them to put her on their Do Not Call list . She started catch some Z’s on the sofa with pencil and paper in hired hand so she could document the calls when they awaken her up . finally , she filed two complaint with her State Attorney General . Dish responded that she credibly already was on the company ’s entity - specific Do Not Call list , but she would be added ‘ in an abundance of caution . ’ But despite all that , the calls kept coming – and according to the government activity ’s motion , she was never put on the entity - specific inclination . ”
Perhaps the high-risk news show for Dish , though , is the FCC punishment for infringing the Do Not Call list . It can be up to $ 16,000 for each outbound call . Ouch . [ FTCviaExaminer ]
