In one photo, Diana models a curve-hugging halter-neck dress with her famous curls and in another, aclose-up portrait, the musician’s classic, timeless elegance takes over the frame.

Fans were in complete awe of the poignant photo shoot and the age-defying appointment (theDouble Platinumactress will turn 80 in March), but there was no one as excited as Ross’ own daughter,Tracee Ellis Ross!

Diana, who was the Queen of Motown in the ’60s, has a wardrobe that still reignssupremetoday, and Tracee —  who is often topping best dressed lists herself — has always credited her style to the woman who raised her.

In 2017, theBlack-ishalumchanneled Dianaat the amfAR Gala with a cardinal red Jenny Packham Bridal gown with a plunging neckline, sequins and embellished sleeves that were all the definition of taking glamour to the max.

The vibrant red number, which Tracee expertly paired with lipstick of the same color, was reminiscent of one of Diana’s go-to performance looks: a bright red dress and oversize ruffled cape, which she’s been sporting onstage since her start in music.

When was honored with theFashion Icon Awardduring the PEOPLE’s Choice Awards three years later, Tracee of course thanked her parents, including her dad, Robert Ellis Silberstein, whom she described as a man with “impeccable” style.

Diana had an especially big impact on the actress, who grew up collecting beads off her dresses that she could have “pieces of the magic, seeds of the fashion dream that I was cultivating for myself."
