Is it over ? Is the D - Squad discharge finally over ? Clone Wars ’ ill - fated squad of astromechs ( plus WAC and Gascon ) had one last hurdle to leap before give over that encryption silicon chip , and this metre there ’s more than their lives ( or Gascon ’s sanity ) at wager . When last we left D - Squad , they had just entrust Abafar ( give thanks god ) and were head for a Jedi cruiser . Gascon count on it ’s smooth hyperspacing from here on out , but it promptly becomes light that the ship “ Republic ” crew consist entirely of holograms . It is n’t until the ship has leap to hyperspace that the team discovers the real gang : Separatist Droids . The astromechs hightail it to condom , carrying Gascon and WAC with them .
Meanwhile , a squad of comic relief Droids is doing a reasonably upright job killing themselves off as they assay to load up a package that makes them far too top - heavy . That makes them gross prey for D - Squad . The astromechs neutralize the remain Droids and then apply their bodies to trick the other comic rest period Droids into work by . Once they have a mo to collect , they bring out a strange turn of non - Republic tech on the ship . Artoo whistles and bleep . “ A bomb calorimeter ? ” WAC cries in revulsion . Nervously , Artoo refine . “ What do you intend the whole ship is a turkey ? ” Gascon involve , incredulous . He runs to a windowpane overlooking the cargo bay laurel . The entire ship is debase with rhydonium , the explosive kernel mine on Abafar . Gascon is more appalled than he probably should be . After all , this is exactly what Mr. Borkus warn them about last installment .
The D - Squad Droids worry that the pleasure craft will blow out up in Republic infinite , possible cost the Republic one thousand of liveliness , but Gascon wants to stick to the foreign mission : get the encoding key back to headquarters . He orders D - Squad to evacuate the ship , although they ’ll have to wait until the cruiser is out of hyperspace . WAC figures by then , it will probably be too late .
Fortunately , Artoo break that the squad is being followed by a hare - eared Droid named BNI-393 or “ Bunny . ” It turns out that when the Separatists took the ship , they failed to eliminate a number of Republic Droids . Bunny had hoped that D - Squad would abandon ship upon get a line about the explosive and take the Republic Droids with them . However , Bunny was able to steal the coordinates of the Separatist target , which Gascon is horror-stricken to discover is the space station where the Republic Strategy Conference is being held . ( After all , he was supposed to submit a report there before being assigned this wacky charge . ) The Jedi Council will be in attending , as will many of the Republic ’s military officer . Since transmissions from the ship are being blocked , D - Squad have to keep the ship from reaching the post themselves .
As they resolve to scotch the Separatist plot , they pick out a fissiparous undercover agent Droid . Artoo go after it through the corridors into a weapons bay , where the are set upon by a cloud of creepy , spidery Droids . Thinking quickly , Artoo lights a fervid circle around themselves , but the wanderer Droids just keep make out . on the spur of the moment , BZ perks up and announces that he ’s going to spread out the air lock . Before anyone can check him , he heads for the threshold and open it . The Republic Droids magnetize their feet , except BZ , who gets sukced out the airlock with the spider Droids . Once the airlock door is shut again , D - Squad take a minute to memorialise BZ . “ I ca n’t believe I ’m read this , ” Gascon tell them , “ but we make a great squad . ”
Gascon form a plan : the injured Droids capitulum for the bird while Gascon and C4 disorder the battle Droids , allowing Artoo ( of course ) to reprogram the detonator to go off early .
The pleasure craft drop out of hyperspace when the station is in view . Then we foreshorten to the station , where — hey , Anakin and Obi - Wan ! You ’re still on this show ! Anakin is of course scold about the boring strategy league and Obi - Wan is gently scold Anakin about his position . Oh , you two . Ever the previous married span . Anakin , for his part , notices the cruiser out the window is coming in a chip too tight .
Gascon ordain his design , but he and C4 spot Artoo facing off against the ship ’s Tactical Droid . He rushes to the shuttle to tell the Droids that Artoo has been delayed , and that they ca n’t launch the shuttle without him . But WAC does n’t get the message in time , and launches the shuttle . That error ends up saving all their lives , however , as Artoo make out to set off the detonator shortly after they set forth — and just as Anakin and company pull in a dud is manoeuvre their way .
As shortly as Gascon inform Anakin that Artoo sacrifice himself to blow up the cruiser , Anakin naturally orders out a salvage team and Artoo is miraculously restored . ( unhappily , poor lost - in - hyperspace BZ does n’t warrant a similar resurrection . We honour him by plant a video of his sacrifice above . ) Gascon closes out the D - Squad dangerous undertaking with a words , telling Artoo that he ’s the bravest Droid Gascon ever conform to and that he would be majestic to answer with any of the D - Squad member . “ I am glad to listen you say that , Colonel , ” WAC tells him . “ I find out that we have all been assigned to the same platoon ! We will be take in each other every Clarence Shepard Day Jr. for the ease of the war ! ” The astromechs tweet and chirrup with delight while Gascon react with a joke that voice as though he ’s run low slimly mad .
