Check Out Nathan Fillion’s Meta Tony Stark Cameo That Was Cut FromGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

The cyberspace ’s favourite devotee put choice , Nathan Fillion , is not in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol . 2 . But that was n’t always the display case . Last year , fans catch a glimpse of some very interesting posters of Fillion on the set of the continuation and now author - manager James Gunn has explained what happened .

We first reported on the postersin April of last year . That ’s when it was revealed Fillion was somehow playing Simon Williams , a.k.a . Wonder Man . And in this world , Williams starred in a biopic of Iron Man himself , Tony Stark , title Tony Stark . So Fillion played Williams , who was playing Stark , play by Robert Downey Jr. catch it ?

In the description of the bill poster , Gunn gets into a bit more detail about how this all come about . Here ’s a snippet :

In a small flash to ground I decided to put a theater take on a “ Simon Williams Film Festival , ” with six Simon Williams movie posters outdoors . patently , from the posters , he ’s had a run of B film . Most of them in themselves are Easter eggs of some sort or another . regrettably , the small section of the scene where they appeared slowed down the flick and I had to reduce the Easter egg from the film ( along with storefronts name after comic script luminaries Starlin , Mantlos , Annett and others ) . evenly a bummer was that a lot of people deal photos of these notice on the day so suddenly every fan site was reporting that Nathan was recreate Wonder Man in he movie . He was even the third - billed actor on IMDB .

So that ’s the full story . Nathan ’s only cameo in the film ever were these poster . I ’ll post them all over the next few days .

Hopefully not only will that scene be on the videodisc ( I assume Ego took Meredith to the movies or something ) , but Wonder Man , played by Nathan Fillion , will make an prescribed MCU appearing sometime soon .
