For the most part , RIM ’s telecasting vision — apparently leaked from within — is just the same touchscreens everywhere quasi - prognostication that everyone else has already made . Can you really even call it a prevision at this point ?
Yet and still , we follow these enterprise phantasms around as they navigate the brilliant work of the 21st one C . What ’re these succeeding kinsfolk up to ? Requesting app permissions at lunch , type on a practical keyboard ( UGH ) , losing their phone at a coffee berry shop , depressingly using augmented world to ascertain a novel desk duty assignment , and other mundaneness . When one of the overeat shirt assign his generic rectangle phone on a table and images pop out out of it , are we supposed to be impressed ? urge ? That is n’t the futurity — it’sSurface , and Microsoft has already made it . And made it look good .
As opposed toMicrosoft ’s treatmentof what ’s in store , which was clean , coherent , and exciting ( albeit dreamy - eyed ) , there ’s nothing aspirational about RIM ’s aspiration . No sense of wonderment , no cleverness . Just ugly interfaces , tepid features , and businessmen who hate themselves . In other words , BlackBerry ’s future is BlackBerry ’s present .
