If A Wrinkle in Time was , for a retentive prison term , considered unfilmable , characters like Aunt Beast are the understanding why . An unfathomable alien creature who attach with Meg and nurses her back to health , Aunt Beast is a fan dearie , but her exclusion from Ava DuVernay ’s film is understandable . However , up until fairly recently , she was n’t take out at all .
Talking toCinema Blend , screenwriter Jennifer Lee talk about the value of Aunt Beast and the ultimate decision to cut her , summons the importance of dialing into Meg Murry ’s arc as the reason why :
I ’d say Aunt Beast was in there until a few months ago , so Aunt Beast did not go gently . We all fought for her , admit Ava , and it was n’t that we were fighting any one entity allege [ sic ] could n’t do it . We were fighting to attempt to make it crop for ourselves . But the truth was what it did in the rule book for Meg that it could do , take aside from the journeying that postulate to happen in the plastic film . In the Holy Scripture , she ’s guided . That ’s compelling logical thinking . In the book , Meg ’s journeying has the space to be complicated and progressive in a way of life that did n’t quite work on film . Still , Aunt Beast is missed .
